Budget Floor Sanding recently completed a floor sanding Tarragindi job which involved finishing the timber floor and stairs with a white limed finish. The floor and timber stairs were hoop pine, a pale-colored timber conducive to white liming. The floor polishing liming product used was Porters White Wash.
Firstly the timber flooring must be sanded to a very high quality to remove any sanding marks and scratches. Then the Porters Limewash product is brushed onto the floor. Great care must be taken with this so that an even finish is achieved. The liming wash is then left to dry for 72 hours.
The next stage is to apply three coats of a water-based floor finish. In this case, Enviropro 2 pack satin finish was used. Water-based products must be used over the whitewash as they are non-yellowing products. The attached photos show the timber flooring in its raw state after sanding and the completed floor Lime washed. Lime washing floors create a mellow French provincial style look, that has become popular using the range of Porters Paints products.
