Floor Sanding Timber Stairs and Staining them Black

To match other decors in the home the owners were keen to stain the timber stairs in a black stain. To ensure the end result matches the owner’s vision, stain samples are firstly supplied for the owner’s approval. The stairs were then sanded and then a stain coat of Feast Watson Prooftint is applied to the stairs. After the stain has dried, the stairs were then finished with 3 coats of a polyurethane satin finish.

This floor staining process can be undertaken over stairs or wooden flooring regardless of whether the timber is a lighter Pine or a darker hardwood. Staining has become more popular and the Feast Watson Prooftint allows for a range of both colors and the varying intensity of stain strength.
