An extension to a hydrotherapy center at a Brisbane retirement village was floored with Hoop pine plywood. Architect specifications required this plywood timber floor to be sanded and then finished with Toby’s Aquamax Commercial water-based finish. It was also specified that a nonslip additive is added to the timber floor finish to provide a nonslip rating to the floor.

After the floor sanding has completed a sealer was first applied and then two coats of Toby’s Aquamax with both coats containing the Intergrain Ultra Grip additive. The addition of the Ultra-grip to the finish results in a matt finish at the completion of the job.
Water-based finish is less prone to yellowing in color than polyurethane and will help limit the change in color of the timber floor over time.
