Floor Sanding and Polishing with Loba Invisible Protect

Do you want your floor to look natural like it is raw timber that has the appearance of having never been coated? If you don’t want your floor to look as if it has a plastic layer on top of the timber and for it not to change color and yellow with age, Loba Invisible Protect is the natural-looking timber floor finish for you.

American Oak Flooring Finished with Loba Invisible Protect

Our latest floor sanding Brisbane project was this new house in Balmoral. The homeowners chose American Oak tongue and groove flooring in a wider 180 mm width. Budget Floor Sanding Brisbane was contracted by the builder to install the timber flooring. With a wide profile floor such as this, the timber was fully glued to the substrate and then secret nailed. It was then also necessary to top nail the floor before floor sanding and polishing.

Spotted Gum Flooring Finished with Loba Water Base Finish

New Spotted Gum Timber flooring was installed on the upstairs and downstairs levels at a recently built new house at Cannon Hill. A decorative Spotted Gum timber parquetry floor had been laid in the entry as a standout feature of this new home. It was the owner’s desire to have the wooden floor looking as natural as possible at the completion of the floor sanding and polishing project. To obtain the desired look the best timber floor finish to achieve this was a water-based coating system.

Floor Sanding and Polishing of Stairs

Budget Floor Sanding Brisbane has in recent weeks been busy with timber stair sanding and polishing. At the “Ison Collection” development in Morningside where there are 14 separate homes with a total of 27 sets of timber stairs, requiring floor sanding and polishing. These were Durian timber stairs that the architect had specified to be coated in “Feast Watson Floor Liming White”. The stairs were then completed with two coats of Loba Water-Based Satin Finish. Sanding & Polishing of a old Church Hall

Budget Floor Sanding Brisbane was recently engaged to undertake the floor sanding and polishing of the timber floors of a historic old church. Once the restored timber floors have been completed, the old church will be used as a wedding chapel. The photos show the rustic old Queensland Hoop Pine flooring that had never been floor sanded before, and the restored timber floor after sanding and polishing with three coats in a polyurethane satin finish. The owners of the church wanted a hard-wearing finish that had an older looking soft sheen appearance, so the satin polyurethane was chosen as it best fit these criteria. Satin timber floor finishes are the perfect floor coating for old timber floors as they do not tend to highlight imperfections that old wooden floors accumulate over time.

Floor Sanding Brisbane Balmoral

Sanding and polishing old Queenslander timber floors is a common request for Budget Floor Sanding. Brisbane has many inner-city suburbs on the southside, northside east, and west, where numerous post-war and Traditional timber homes with wooden floors exist. Renovating and restoring these timber homes often involves sanding and polishing the existing timber floors. More often than not, the traditional Queenslanders and workers cottages have hoop pine floors and the post-war homes are more likely to have a mix of hardwood timber flooring or brush box floors. Recently Budget Floor Sanding Brisbane re-sanded the floors in a 100-year-old Queenslander in Balmoral. Originally this home had hoop pine floors damaged by timber borer. The wooden floors were completely replaced with a native hardwood floor as part of a major home renovation. After polishing the wooden floors some fifteen years ago, Budget Floor Sanding Brisbane returned to re-polish the timber floors with a water-based timber floor coating, restoring them to their original condition. Customers always comment on what a transformation floor sanding and polishing has on their home. Anti Slip for Timber Stairs

Are your timber stairs safe? In 2014 the Australian Building Codes Board and State government Regulators introduced new regulations for slip resistance on timber stairs within the Building Code of Australia. This now means that when sanding and coating timber stairs, the wooden treads must be finished with an Anti Slip additive into the coating, which will give the timber stair tread an R10 slip rating. This results in the timber stair tread ending up with a near matt sheen level and for this reason, we now recommend that wooden stairs are finished in a satin finish so as to minimize the sheen difference between the treads and the rest of the stairs.

Staining of a Hoop Pine Timber Floor at Norman Park

Staining of timber floors has become a frequent line of inquiry here at Budget Floor Sanding Brisbane. Principally the floor stain colors that clients are interested in, are black stains and dark chocolate brown stains. In old Queenslanders, not everyone desires the honey color of the old Hoop Pine floorboards and these are the most common timber floors that we are asked to stain.

Floor Sanding with Invisible Protect Timber Floor Finish

New timber floor coatings are constantly becoming available and one of the latest is a product produced by Loba called Invisible Protect. Budget Floor Sanding recently used this wooden floor finish on a Coorparoo homes hoop pine floor, to create an untreated Scandinavian Nordic timber floor look. The owners of this Queenslander home wanted to finish the floor in such a way that maintained the original look of the raw timber floor. This timber floor finish is designed to leave the coated floor in a natural state with the appearance as close as possible to the original raw timber floorboards. The wooden floor coating retains the natural appearance and feel of untreated wood. The almost invisible layer is extremely scratch-resistant and has outstanding chemical and wear resistance.
